Remote Learning Day

Friday, September 11 is our first all-school Remote Learning Day!

Overview of how that day looks:

  • All students (hybrid and remote) learn from home - attendance is taken by the teachers!

  • McClure students - start the day in your 1st period google classroom

    • Attend synchronous classes (all periods) on an abbreviated schedule (starting at 8:10am). The afternoon is asynchronous learning based on the morning's lessons.

  • Elementary students (and parents) will receive a link from their teacher for a morning meeting

    • The morning will be STEM focused with SparkShop engineering challenges
      (9:30 to 11:30am)

    • The afternoon will be specials’ focused (PE, Art, Music and Spanish)
Students will complete activities from a D101 Specials Choice Board (12:30-3:00pm)

    • All classes (morning and afternoon) are asynchronous.

  • What will teachers be doing during the day?

Teachers will  have dedicated time to both plan for instruction and participate in professional development sessions, including ones focused on how to best teach if/when we have to go fully remote as a District. A few examples of what will be offered:

    • How to Best Structure 1 Hour of Synchronous Learning  - Lesson & Simulation
Instructional coaches will lead grade level sessions on best practices for synchronous (live) virtual teaching

    • Put on Your Oxygen Mask First - how to take care of yourself so you can manage the challenges of teaching in a pandemic

    • Try It, Perfect It and Teach It - try out your great teaching idea(s) with an instructional coach who can help you make it perfect

Thank you from all of us at D101!

We are better together!
