Board of Education Names Next Assistant Superintendent
We are happy to share the news with you that the Board of Education, at last night’s regularly scheduled meeting, formally approved Mrs. Ashley Burger as the next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction starting with the 2024-25 school year. The Board’s action followed an internal position posting and interview process conducted over the last handful of months.
Presently, Mrs. Burger is in her fifth year as Principal of Field Park Elementary School. Prior to her tenure at Field Park, she served as Assistant Principal at McClure Junior High School for three years, K-8 District Instructional Coach for one year, and as a fifth grade teacher at Laidlaw School during her first four years in D101. Additionally, she is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in Educational Administration and Leadership at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Mrs. Burger will remain fully committed to Field Park for the remainder of this school year and will also play a key role in ensuring a smooth transition for the next Field Park Principal. Additionally, our timing for this announcement was made, in part, to intentionally optimize our timeline and ability to access the strongest candidate pool possible. As such, the Field Park Principal position will be posted later this week.
As is part of our standard practice, our search process will engage staff, parents, the administrative team and the Board of Education in the vetting of prospective candidates. The timeline for naming a new Field Park leader is expected to occur no later than January 2024.
Field Park is a school with a long standing reputation of talented staff, students and families all working together to sustain a culture where Falcons thrive as learners and as people, and Mrs. Burger’s leadership has further enhanced these strengths. We will work hard to ensure that the next Field Park Principal is someone who embodies all that has already been accomplished there and is ready to take on the important work of being the next Field Park leader.
Additionally, we enthusiastically look forward to welcoming Mrs. Burger to the district office team and are excited for the leadership, continuity and expertise she will bring to all aspects of curriculum and instruction.
