Volleyball is a competitive sport, focused on improving overall skills, teamwork and offensive and defensive strategies.

Boys - the season is March through May, with practice and games Monday through Friday.

Twelve boys are selected for each team. Equal playing time in games/matches is always a goal for the coach but cannot be guaranteed. Volunteers are needed as team managers, and managers will assist with game statistics, equipment, and practices.

There is only one team at each grade level. Being on the seventh grade team does not guarantee a position on the eighth grade team.

A valid physical examination and a concussion form is required in order to tryout for the team and a record of the exam must be on file with the school nurse BEFORE tryouts.

Individual skills, game knowledge/experience, good sportsmanship, willingness to be coachable, and a positive attitude. You are expected to attend all practices and games. If you have other commitments that would interfere with this expectation, you must inform your coach BEFORE you tryout.

Daily (~1.5 hours)

Early practices: 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. Late practices: 4:15 – 5:30 p.m. (study hall is available prior to late practice)

7th grade matches begin around 4:15 and 8th grade matches will follow.

Good Luck in your tryouts. If you have any questions or concerns please see Ms. McGovern or Mr. Shum at school or contact us via email.

Thank you,
